As investments in electronic communications networks are capital intensive, communications companies are mainly driven by commercial interests when developing networks. As a result, high-quality, high-speed internet access may remain unavailable in rural or sparsely populated areas. The state has started to support the development of connections in these areas.
The support measures for the establishment of connections are divided into many different phases:
- Phase 1, from 2017
- Phase 2, from 2020
- Phase 3, from 2021
- Phase 4, from 2023
- Phase 5, from 2025
