For the trader: about the work of the Committee

According to the Consumer Protection Act*, the trader must provide a written response to the consumer's statement, in which the trader takes a position on the claims contained in the statement and the consumer's claim and offers a possible solution to resolve the dispute.

The Committee will normally give the trader 14 days to formulate its position and respond.

The explanation must be accompanied by documentary evidences of its allegations and relevant circumstances. If the parties do not reach a settlement during the preparation of the dispute, the consumer's statement shall be forwarded to the Consumer Disputes Committee for resolution and decision.

The trader has the possibility to settle the consumer dispute before the meeting of the commission by an agreement satisfactory to the parties.

When attending a meeting of the committee, it is necessary for the representative of the trader to present a document certifying the authorization (except for a member of the management board) and an identity document.
