The winner of the auction can commence with the development of an offshore wind farm in the Liivi 1 sea area. The Liivi 1 area is 77.7 km2 and its starting price was 1,165,500 euros.
The auction started on 11 January 2024 at 12 p.m., Estonian time, and ended on 17 January 2024 at 12 p.m.
“We are happy to announce that the auctions for Liivi 1 and Liivi 2 sea areas have now been successfully completed. At the moment, preparations are underway for auctions for the next sea areas,” said Liina Roosimägi, head of the Division of Building Right of the CPTRA.
“The cooperation between private companies and state institutions must also continue to be aimed at maintaining the pace of auctions so that the mapped areas suitable for the development of offshore wind can find a developer. The potential of offshore wind in the Estonian territorial sea mapped during the maritime spatial planning can be taken into use only if strong companies developing offshore wind farms gather behind it,” said Nikon Vidjajev, adviser of offshore wind energy at the Ministry of Climate.
According to the application for superficies licence submitted by UAB “Ignitis renewables projektai 6” on 25 August 2023, up to 57 wind turbines with a total capacity of up to 900 MW are planned to be erected in the Liivi 1 sea area. Superficies licence proceedings together with an environmental impact assessment will commence in relation to the winner of the auction within 90 days from the confirmation of the winner. The CPTRA will issue a decision to refuse to initiate superficies licence proceedings in respect of other competing applications.
