From 07.12.2023 to 13.12.2023, an auction was held for the development of an offshore wind farm in the sea area of Liivi 2, which was won by UAB "Ignitis renewables projektai 6", which made the highest bid.
According to the application submitted by UAB "Ignitis renewables projektai 6" on 25.08.2023, it is planned to erect up to 88 electric wind turbines with a total capacity of up to 1400 MW in the marine area of Liivi 2. Liivi 2 marine area is located northwest of Ruhnu island in an area suitable for the development of wind energy according to the spatial plan of the Estonian marine area, and the size of this area is 114.9 km².
Following the initiation of the superficies license procedure and the environmental impact assessment, the developer UAB "Ignitis renewables projektai 6" can start preparing the environmental impact assessment program, which will include, among other things, a description of the assessment methodology used in the environmental impact assessment, including information on the studies necessary for the environmental impact assessment.
UAB "Ignitis renewables projektai 6" must submit an environmental impact assessment program to CPTRA within 18 months and an environmental impact assessment report within 24 months after the decision to recognize the environmental impact assessment program in terms of meeting the requirements. After the report is recognized as meeting the requirements, it is possible to issue a superficies license, after which the developer can start applying for a building permit after the design work has been completed.
